The Russian Investigative Committee has announced that it has filed new charges against Alexei Navalny, guilty of having created "a non-profit organization - or the FBK or Anti-Corruption Foundation, ed - that violates the rights of citizens". In June, FBK was branded an extremist organization on the basis of a new ad-hoc law. For the Committee, FBK's activities "entailed inciting citizens to commit illegal acts".
Navalny, Meduza writes, now faces a fine of up to 200,000 rubles, hard labor, limitations on freedom or imprisonment for up to three years.
