Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) is not known for sentimentalism.

Qua office, the 63-year-old is a man of numbers.

A few weeks before the federal election, however, the SPD candidate for chancellor is now showing his gentle side.

In an interview with the “Bunter”, Scholz spoke about her marriage to Britta Ernst, which has been going on for more than 20 years, and is the Brandenburg Minister for Education, Youth and Sport.

»Britta is the love of my life, unchanged for so long.

Offices come and go, love remains. "When asked whether his love for his wife was about to achieve the greatest political success, the Vice-Chancellor replied:" Of course, I'll still sign that with an exclamation mark! "

"I can do my Königsberger Klopse quite well"

Scholz also spoke to the magazine about his cooking skills.

»I like to cook, preferably on the weekend.

I can do my Koenigsberger Klopse quite well, "said the Chancellor candidate.

"There is hardly anything like that in restaurants any more." Scholz relies on instructions for the Klopse: "I largely cook the recipe from Tim Mälzer, with small variations."

Scholz had last spoken in the series of talks "Brigitte live" about his private life.

"I think I would be a completely different person if I weren't married to Britta Ernst," said Scholz, for example.

His wife is a great politician - which is why he was outraged when asked whether she would continue to work if he became chancellor.

Scholz had also said that he ran several times a week, but did not listen to any music, did not wear measuring devices and did not use any apps.

While jogging, he "doesn't really think about any things much either," said the Vice Chancellor.
