Rewe, Penny and Co recall popular ice cream flavors: "Health risk extremely unlikely"
According to Froneri, the reason for the recall is that the content of ethylene oxide (ETO) in an ingredient is above the legal limit of the EU.
However, this ingredient is only used in small quantities in ice cream production, so that the ETO content in the finished product is very low and well below the limit value.
"A health risk is therefore extremely unlikely," writes Froneri on his website.
Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, the affected articles were recalled.
According to the company, the processing of the offending ingredients has already been stopped, products in stock have been blocked and business partners have been informed.
All other products of the brand are not affected by the recall, stressed Froneri.
