The European Medicines Agency is currently investigating a few conditions to determine if a causal link exists with vaccines

The European Medicines Agency is currently studying a few conditions to determine whether a causal link exists with the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Three conditions are currently the focus of the safety committee of the European Medicines Agency. First of all erythema multiforme, a form of allergic skin reaction, characterized by the appearance of red and raised spots of concentric shape. Cases of glomerulonephritis are also closely monitored. It is a disorder that affects both kidneys and balls of microscopic blood vessels. Pfizer Finally, doctors also keep an eye on cases of nephrotic syndrome, which also affects the kidneys and is characterized by swelling, edema in the body tissues, high blood pressure and the presence of red blood cells in the urine. The stake is very simple: to determine if these three disorders can constitute side effects of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

A “benefit / risk” ratio always in favor of the vaccine

A month ago, the European Medicines Agency identified a possible link between injection of serum using Messenger RNA technology and very rare cases of inflammation of the heart muscle. For now, the agency has not communicated on the number of cases it had identified but claims to have requested additional data from Pfizer and Moderna. For its part, the World Health Organization continues to assert that the balance “benefits / risks” was still largely in favor of vaccination. Nevertheless, this increased monitoring of the disorders which affect some recently vaccinated people is necessary and makes the pharmacovigilance procedure about which the immunologist Franck Mennechet told us about a month ago."This is phase 4 which aims to intervene directly if ever we identify a problem in certain people and a causal link with the vaccine is proven," he explained.

Apart from the three conditions mentioned above, the menstrual disorders that affected some women who recently received the Pfizer vaccine have also been the subject of very special monitoring for two weeks.

So far, no link has been established between these disorders and the injection of a messenger RNA serum.
