A family doctor in the Osnabrück district no longer wants to treat anti-corona vaccine opponents in his practice.
Because the doctor has received hate messages, the police are investigating more than 40 cases so far.
The majority of it is about insults, in other individual cases also about threats and sedition, said a police spokeswoman on Thursday.
Some suspects have already been identified because they signed hate mail with full names.
But this is still only an interim result.
The investigation continued, the spokeswoman said.
The man is under police protection.
First of all, the NDR reported.
"This is criminal"
A woman had accused the 37-year-old doctor of refusing her a prescription because he was not treating any unvaccinated people in principle. The doctor denied this to various media. The man told the NDR that the decision against further treatment had been made in the team to protect employees. The Medical Association in Lower Saxony (ÄKN) wants to review the case.
The German trade union federation (DGB) stood behind the family doctor, according to NDR.
The hatred against him transports fascist ideas at its core, according to the DGB.
The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians is also at the side of the family doctor: "I am shocked that the colleague in Wallenhorst was given police protection due to death threats or threats and insults from his employees," said the Osnabrück District Executive Uwe Lankenfeld.
"This is criminal."
