Basically, it is important to always keep an eye on the crop rotation.
In addition, the beds must be prepared before sowing.
That means: pulling weeds, loosening the soil, adding ripe compost if necessary and leveling everything.

Lamb's lettuce can confidently be called the highlight of every autumn menu.
Its nutty taste makes it a delicacy, the green leaves promise a supply of vitamins and minerals.

The seeds for the lamb's lettuce are ideally sown in different rows.
The individual seeds are placed about ten centimeters apart and no more than one centimeter deep in the seed groove.
Then the seeds are lightly covered with earth and pressed down a little.
It is important to ensure uniform soil moisture.
Tender leaves, thick stems: Swiss chard should be sown by the end of August at the latest - as well as autumn and winter radishes
At best, Swiss chard is also sown by the beginning of August at the latest.
It is of elementary importance to plant the seeds in rows about two to three centimeters deep into the ground.
The distance of 30 to 40 centimeters to each other is also important.
This also applies between the rows.
The corresponding bed must be kept evenly moist.
In this case, you can look forward to tender leaves and thick stems.
It is also worth growing autumn and winter radishes in August.
For this purpose, seed grooves are made in the bed at a distance of around 30 centimeters from one another.
The vegetables should be sown two to three centimeters deep at a distance of 10 to 15 centimeters.
If it is kept evenly moist, tasty radishes can be harvested 10 to 15 weeks later, depending on the variety.
Cover with soil, pound, keep moist: spinach requires a lot of care
For autumn varieties of mildew-resistant spinach, sowing is ideally recommended in the third to fourth week of August.
If the sowing is done correctly, the healthy leafy vegetables will sprout quite reliably.
To do this, the spinach must be sown in rows around three centimeters deep and close together.
A distance of 20 centimeters is recommended between the rows.
Then the seeds are covered with earth, pounded lightly and kept evenly moist until germination.
Last but not least, robust rocket can also be sown in August.
The seeds come into grooves about one centimeter deep, which should be 20 centimeters apart.
There should be three centimeters of space between the plants.
The grooves are closed again, regular soil moisture is a must.
The rocket can be harvested from a leaf length of about ten centimeters.
