Two women from Rosario who were heading to a wake died this Wednesday during an accident on
Route 33
.
The car they were traveling in hit a truck carrying cattle head-on and ended up split in two.
The victims were identified as
María Belén Giardina (36) and María Agustina Quilici (41)
, who traveled to Rufino to participate in the wake of the father of a mutual friend.
The accident occurred at kilometer 570 of Route 33, near the Santa Fe town of Amenabar, 250 kilometers from Rosario.
The Honda Fit vehicle
crashed head-on into a
Volvo
truck
carrying cattle, police sources reported.
The crash was so violent that it
split the car in two
, causing the victims to be instantly killed.
On one side there were two tires and the engine, and on the other the rest of the vehicle with the occupants.
Meanwhile, the truck driver, a 60-year-old man from Venado Tuerto, suffered minor injuries when his vehicle overturned, and is recovering out of harm's way.

, a special operation was carried out in the area both to carry out tests and to avoid new incidents due to loose cattle on the road layout.
Although
the causes
of the fatal crash
are unknown
, the investigation of the case is in the hands of the prosecution, which worked together with personnel from the Highway Police and a team of Volunteer Firefighters from Rufino and the Sancti Spiritu commune.
Two weeks ago, two other road tragedies happened in Córdoba and Salta.
On the one hand, a 64-year-old man who was taking his granddaughter to school died when his car ran over a horse that crossed national route 38, at kilometer 71, in the jurisdiction of the city of La Cumbre, located 96 kilometers northwest of the Cordovan capital.
Meanwhile, six people died, including two children, and at least one was injured, when two cars collided on national route 9/34, in the Cabeza de Buey area, in the General Güemes department, at kilometer 1,533, and 55 kilometers from the capital of Salta.
