There are 18 Regions classified at moderate risk in the weekly monitoring draft Iss-Ministry of Health that will be released today.
The remaining ones classified as low risk are Lazio and the two autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano.
According to the draft,
the national RT drops from 1.56 last week to 1.27 this week
, but the incidence continues to rise, reaching 73 cases per 100,000 inhabitants against 68 last week.
Sardinia with 141.8, Tuscany with 129.9 and Sicily with 127.2 are the three regions with the highest incidence values
for the period 6-12 August, therefore updated to yesterday. The data on incidences represents, together with that on the saturation of hospital wards and intensive care units, one of the decision-making indicators for any containment measures. The national value - according to data from the Ministry of Health accompanying the weekly Covid monitoring that will be announced today - is up compared to last week with 73 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. The lowest value is in Molise with 20.9.
No Region / PPAA exceeds the critical occupancy threshold for ICU or medical area beds
. The ICU employment rate is slightly increasing to 4%, with the number of people hospitalized increasing from 258 (03/08/2021) to 322 (10/08/2021). The employment rate in medical areas nationwide increases to 5%. The number of people hospitalized in these areas is increasing from 2,196 (03/08/2021) to 2,880 (10/08/2021).
The circulation of the Delta variant is now largely prevalent in Italy
and this variant is dominant in the European Union and associated with an increase in the number of new cases of infection even in countries with high vaccination coverage: this is what is shown in the monitoring draft that asks "tracking" and "compliance with measures". "A higher vaccination coverage and the completion of vaccination cycles represent the main tools to prevent further recurrences of episodes of increased circulation of the virus supported by emerging variants with greater transmissibility".
