The national government today made official the launch of the

second edition of the Pre-trip plan

, which seeks to promote the advance purchase of national tourist services by granting a

credit of 50% of the consumption expenditure made

, and which may be used until the end of 2022.

Thus, from this Friday, August 13, those who make tourist purchases in authorized providers will

be

able to

receive 50% of the amount spent as credit

, which they can use to make other purchases in tourism and culture between November 2021 and December 31, 2022.

With this second PreTravel plan - which will be formally presented tomorrow in Iguazú and later with local launches in different provinces - the Government hopes to

double the figures it obtained in the first edition

"The Pre-Trip that we launched last year was very good, a success, which injected more than 15 billion pesos into the tourism sector and boosted the trips of more than 600 thousand people," said the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Matías Lammens , in dialogue with

Clarín

.

And he stressed that with this second edition it

is expected to reach 30 billion pesos and encourage 1,200,000 trips

.

The minister also highlighted that in the first edition 13 thousand providers of the sector participated, while in Pre-Trip 2 it is expected that there will be

about 20 thousand providers

, of all categories: accommodation, air and land transport of cabotage, travel agencies, rental of cars, museums, spas and a novelty compared to last year:

artistic shows and cinemas

.

This year we add culture

.

That is to say that one can travel, for example, to Bariloche, accumulate 50% of what was spent as credit and on the return use it to go to eat, to the cinema or to the theater in their city ”, he explained.

And he confirmed that this new program is valid for all trips, "

even those for graduates, who we hope will be able to return in October

A more ambitious plan

Lammens stressed that the Pre-Trip was "very well received" by the entire Argentine tourism sector and

even recognized by international organizations such

as the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the United Nations (UN).

“The summer ended with 15 million tourists traveling through the country, and this year

we have more ambitious goals

, because last year a question of trust had an influence;

many distrusted that it would work, that the national State was going to credit the expenses, send the card to each registered person and that it could be exchanged, but it

worked very well

”.

Pre-Trip 1 - of which one billion pesos still remains to be exchanged, with a deadline that expires in December - worked especially well in certain provinces such as Río Negro - where it was used the most, with 3.3 billion pesos - or Tierra del Fuego, and in This second edition is expected to join several

provinces with their own benefits

.

In other words, the 50% returned by the national State, other provinces

will add an additional percentage

yet to be defined.

So far confirmed Santa Fe, but there will be others.

In PreViaje 2 it is expected to further promote the use of the virtual wallet, although whoever keeps the physical card from last year

will be able to reuse it

to load the credits accumulated with new purchases on the same card.

As for the implementation, the steps for data loading and credit redemption will be the same as last year, although there will be some specific differences such as

additional benefits for retirees

, which will be announced soon.

In addition, unlike the first edition, which allowed credits to be redeemed from January, this time it will be possible to do from November, which, Lammens believes, will boost travel in November and December, especially on long weekends.

"We had a very bad time," said the minister referring to the blow that the pandemic meant for the tourism sector.

But he stressed that now there is "good news, exit prospects, with much less uncertainty than last year."

The return of foreign tourism

The minister highlighted the

good numbers for the winter season

.

"First, we managed to have a season, although we did not promote it due to the health situation, but the reports we receive from the main tourist centers are good regarding occupation, and the provincial tourism ministers are happy," he said.

For Minister Lammens, the summer holidays will be "extraordinary".

And he advanced: “I think

the summer season will be extraordinary

.

I have a lot of confidence, and they say it the providers of the main tourist centers, that they are receiving many reservations and consultations ”.

One of the good news for the summer would be

the return of foreign tourists

, since the opening would begin in the last quarter of this year, allowing the entry of vaccinated tourists from countries "with good health conditions."

"What delayed the decision was the Delta variant, but

there are sure to be foreign tourists in the summer,

" Lammens said.

And he anticipated that they are already working on a

specific incentive plan for visitors from neighboring countries

-especially from Chile, Brazil and Uruguay-, which represent 65% of the total number of tourists that Argentina receives.

Bariloche.

Nature tourism will be the focus of Argentina in the future, in the face of international tourism.

Recovery in 2022

Regarding the focus of post-pandemic tourism positioning in Argentina, the minister assured that it will be “

tourism and nature

”, and pointed out that work is being done on the

development of the Natural Route

, with financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), to promote destinations of nature in all provinces.

This focus on natural tourism opens up a huge possibility in certain markets, such as China and the United States, Lammens emphasizes, and highlights that in 2022 the historical deficit in the country's travel account could be reversed.

In 2019, pre-pandemic, Argentina received about 7 million foreigners, "and we believe that

2022 can mark a very important recovery

, and that the recovery can be very fast," he said.
