Covid-19 in France: 51 new deaths, 1,837 patients in critical care

9,648 patients are currently being treated in hospital due to a Covid-19 infection. They were 8,425 seven days ago.


The numbers continue to grow.

This Saturday, Public Health France counted 51 new deaths linked to Covid-19, as well as a total of 1,837 patients in critical care, a figure that has increased since the end of July.

In detail, the health institute records a total of 9,648 patients hospitalized due to a Covid-19 infection, against 9,546 Friday, and 8,425 last Saturday.

Of this total, 1,837 patients are treated in critical care, against 1,831 on Friday, and 1,510 seven days ago.

51 new deaths have been counted, bringing the total of Covid-19 deaths to 112,658 in France, since the start of the epidemic.

More than 24,000 new contaminations

24,427 new cases of Covid-19 have also been recorded in the past 24 hours.

On Friday, Public Health France had 26,453 new contaminations.

Seven days earlier, they numbered 25,755.

The pandemic has killed at least 4,333,013 worldwide since the end of December 2019, out of more than 205.3 million infections, according to a report established by AFP from official sources Friday in the middle of the day.

The United States is the country with the most deaths (620,972), ahead of Brazil (567,862), India (430,254), Mexico (246,811) and Peru (197,209).

The World Health Organization estimates, taking into account the excess mortality directly and indirectly linked to Covid-19, that the toll of the pandemic could be two to three times higher than that calculated from official figures.
