Bozkurt, Kastamonu / Turkey
The pictures are devastating.
Drone images from the Turkish city of Bozkurt, in the Kastamonu region, near the Black Sea, which has been hardest hit by the floods.
In this northern province alone, 32 people have died so far, and six more in the neighboring province of Sinop.
The number of fatalities from floods has already risen to 38, and the number of missing persons has not yet been precisely quantified.
The bodies of flood victims are said to have washed into the sea and later found on the beaches.
Video recordings of the residents show how surprisingly quickly everything happened: Here the river Ezine burst its banks with tremendous force after sudden, heavy rain.
The water tore several bridges and destroyed power lines;
Some residents also accused the local authorities of failing to warn of the danger of the heavy rains quickly enough.
Turkey's President Erdogan visited the flooded area on Friday - and assured that the country will overcome this disaster after the devastating forest fires of recent weeks.
The government started an aid campaign, but it also asked citizens for donations, which met with criticism.
Critics also accuse the authorities of allowing unregulated development in the river valleys - and thus increasing the risk of flooding.
These images sparked a new debate in the country about Erdogan's climate policy.
Turkey has not ratified the Paris Climate Agreement.
