The first Ebola case in 25 years occurred in Ivory Coast.
The country's Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) announced this independently.
Health Minister Pierre Dimba said on national television that it was an isolated case of an 18-year-old girl who had entered from neighboring Guinea.
According to WHO information, the patient arrived in Abidjan on Thursday and was taken to hospital with a fever.
She is currently being treated.
"It is very worrying that this outbreak was discovered in Abidjan, a metropolis of more than four million people," said WHO Regional Director Matshidiso Moeti.
However, a large part of the global expertise in the fight against Ebola is located on the African continent.
"The Ivory Coast can take advantage of this experience."
Guinea, from which the patient traveled, is also the origin of the Ebola epidemic from 2013 to 2016, in which more than 11,000 people died.
At the beginning of the year there was another outbreak, which was declared over on June 19.
The country also confirmed a first case of the Marburg virus in West Africa earlier this week.
Marburg fever is a highly infectious hemorrhagic fever that is very similar to Ebola fever.
