One in two Italians (50%) decided to spend mid-August away from home, traveling to reach relatives or friends, go on holiday to the sea, in the countryside and in the mountains or to take a simple trip perhaps with the traditional picnic. It emerges from a Coldiretti / Ixè survey disclosed on the occasion of the red sticker weekend on Italian roads for the departures of the "New Year" of the summer, still conditioned by the effects of the pandemic with 28% of citizens declaring that they spend it at home to remarry while for another 20% it is a day like any other. The Ferragosto - underlines Coldiretti - remains the highlight of the holidays of the Italians who, once again this year, have chosen to concentrate their holidays in August for the vast majority.

According to a survey by Assoturismo Confesercenti, over 89% of the rooms available on the main online agency portals were reserved for the long weekend.

Overall, 11.5 million overnight stays and 1.4 billion in tourist spending are estimated between 13 and 16 August.

"Important signs of a restart" underlines the president of the association Vittorio Messina, who now invites us to "avoid braking".

This August 15th will be marked by the most intense heat of summer 2021 and beyond, with fires that continue to rage.

Red dot in 16 cities including Bari, Bologna, Florence, Naples, Palermo and Rome.

Thus the fires also continue.

Meanwhile in Turin, an initiative for the youngest vaccinated: a good ice cream after receiving the dose of the drug.

Stoves lit as tradition requires from north to south of the boot to celebrate August 15th with the most popular typical dishes and to be consumed in company and in your favorite place: on the beach or in the mountains or in the hills for a classic picnic. Among the most popular recipes for each region, whose secrets are kept by mothers, grandmothers and restaurateurs, we find in Northern Italy and in particular in Trentino Alto Adige and Valle d'Aosta, as indicated by the Italian Federation of Public Exercises (Fipe), the classic dumplings, bread balls and speck, and the Seupa à la Vapelenentse, a soup that takes its name from the Valpelline village, made with bread, fontina cheese and meat broth. In Lombardy the classic minestrone is proposed, in the cold version and most suitable for the month of August. In Veneto and Liguria, fish with sardines in saor and capponadda, a fresh seafood salad with tuna, anchovies, tomato and olives. Friuli Venezia-Giulia and Emilia Romagna bet on stuffed pasta with Cjarsons and the classic cappelletti al ragù. The Piedmontese, on the other hand, focus on the dessert, with a typical dessert of August that is the Margheritina di Stresa, a biscuit whose particular fragrance is given by the presence, in the ingredients, of the sieved hard-boiled egg yolk and reduced to flour. In Central Italy and specifically in Tuscany the roasted pigeon, while in Umbria gnocchi with duck sauce. In the Marche we find roast goose and in Molise cavatelli with pork sauce. In Rome and throughout Lazio, stewed chicken with peppers. In the South,in Campania the Maccheroni Pizza and in Puglia orecchiette with turnip tops. In nearby Basilicata, lamb alla Lucana, while in Calabria, baked pasta is offered. At the table in Sardinia there are the Sardinian potato culurgiones, a stuffed pasta, and in Sicily the Sicilian Melon Frost with watermelon as the main ingredient, which in Sicily is commonly called "melon".
