After the decision of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) to recommend vaccination against the coronavirus to all children and adolescents aged 12 and over, the Greens are demanding specific vaccination opportunities.
"Now it takes speed to create easily accessible schoolyard vaccination offers for schoolchildren, which are then also open to their parents", said Green parliamentary group leader Katrin Göring-Eckardt on Monday the news agency dpa.
The education and the information campaign should now keep pace.
"That is why we need explanations that are easy to understand, even for older adolescents themselves."
Göring-Eckardt pointed out that in most federal states children and young people will be returning from the summer holidays in the next few weeks.
She thanked Stiko for the "sound basis" of her vote.
The independent committee announced on Monday that "according to the current state of knowledge, the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risk of very rare vaccine side effects."
The official recommendation text is not yet available, changes are still possible in a coordination process with the federal states and specialist groups.
The Stiko had previously only recommended vaccinations for children between 12 and 17 years of age if there was a higher risk of severe corona courses.
According to Stiko, vaccinations are already possible with medical advice and as an individual decision by children and parents.
