In his youth, Quentin Tarantino preferred to write scripts rather than participate in class. His mother apparently once criticized him for it - and the filmmaker continues to draw conclusions to this day.

After their breakthrough, many stars use their wealth to make their parents' lives easier, buy them houses and cars, or give them luxury trips around the world.

Not so Quentin Tarantino.

The director said in a podcast at the end of July that he had sworn in his childhood that he would never give his mother any of his wealth.

Now his mother commented on her son's statement.

Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is one of the most famous directors and screenwriters in Hollywood. His talent for stories was evidently already evident as a child, as he told in the podcast "The Moment" with Brian Koppelman. In school he often did not get good grades, although he was not stupid. One of the reasons for this was that he preferred to write scripts in class rather than participate.

Instead of seeing talent in his writing, his teachers would have reacted negatively, taking it as a resistance to their authority and act of rebellion. This displeasure on the part of the teachers apparently did not go unnoticed, even by Tarantino's mother. One day she scolded him about his performance at school, says Tarantino. The following sentence was also used: "And by the way: This little 'writing career' of yours - the crap is over!"

What could be ticked off as a pedagogically not particularly successful moment of parenthood, apparently hit the then youthful Tarantino hard. He especially remembers the sarcasm with which she emphasized the word "writing career". He then secretly swore to his mother: “When I'm famous, you won't get a penny from my money. No house for you, no vacation, no Elvis Cadillac. "

When Koppelman asked whether he kept to it, Tarantino said: “Oh yes!

I once helped her with a problem with the IRS, but no house! ”Koppelman laughs and demands that Tarantino have mercy and finally buy his mother a house, but this one stays tough.

"What you say to your children has consequences," he says.

Especially when it comes to something that is important to the children.

He could definitely afford it: Tarantino's fortune is estimated by the US media at around 120 million dollars.

Mother supports him anyway

After several media reports on Tarantino's statement in the podcast, his mother, Connie Zastoupil, spoke to USA Today on the subject.

However, anyone who hopes for a public family dispute will be disappointed.

Zastoupil said her son had full backing.

"I support him, am proud of him, and love him and his growing family," she said.

"I had a lot of fun dancing at his wedding and hearing the news of the birth of my grandson Leo."

She doesn't blame him for his comment on the podcast.

Such statements would often be taken out of context and then go viral.

"I don't want to take part in such media madness," she said.
