Suspicious dealers fled a police ship in the southern Spanish region of Granada in a speedboat on Saturday.
They sped at high speed onto the beach in the small town of Melicena, where they tried to escape on foot.
But they had done the bill or the courageous bathers: They overpowered the suspected drug traffickers and handed them over to the police.
As reported by the Spanish media, around a dozen men and women, some of advanced age, surrounded one of the two and pounced on him.
The second "narco" initially escaped, but was then detained nearby.
One of the active policemen was off duty.
But several dogs also took part in the "arrest", barking.
In a video published by the newspaper "La Vanguardia", a younger woman says that the bathers did not hesitate to help the police, who were not present on the beach.
"It got out of our minds to catch the bad guys," she said.
Most of the "heroes" were locals, because the beach at Melicena is rarely visited by tourists.
As the police later announced, 808 kilograms of hashish were seized in the motorboat.
Whether there will be a bonus for the brave bathers has not been announced for the time being.
