Before you start, tips for perfect patties and parents in a hurry:

* It is recommended to fry patties a little before adding to the sauce, so that they do not fall apart during cooking and especially for the taste.

Short baking in the oven gives the same result in less time and less dirt.

* It is recommended to prepare a large amount of patties, let them cool a bit after frying / baking, transfer to an airtight box and freeze (stored in the freezer for up to two months).

That way there are always ready-made patties in the freezer just waiting for the sauce.

* The secret in patties is to fry the onion, which adds a delicious sweetness.

* For particularly juicy patties, it is recommended to add 20 percent of meat / lamb fat from the amount of meat.

* It is important to knead the patty mixture only until thin white threads are formed (the protein formed in the meat and it helps to connect the patty mixture) and not beyond that, otherwise the patties will come out too hard.

Preparation

How do you make patties in a red sauce that kids love?

  • 1 The

    patties:

Preheat oven to 200 degrees and line a pan with baking paper.

  • 2 In a small skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and fry until golden.

  • 3 In a large bowl mix and put well with your hands all the ingredients of the patties including the fried onion, just until the meat mixture starts to become sticky and thin white threads form in the meat (the protein of the meat that helps to tie the patty).

Do not mix beyond that, otherwise the patty will be too solid.

  • 4 Form the mixture into small patties about 2 cm in diameter and place them in a pan. Place in the hot oven for 15 minutes or until their bottom is browned.

  • 5 The

    sauce: In

a wide, flat pot, heat the oil, add the garlic and fry for a minute (be careful not to burn the garlic).

Add the spices, stir and fry for a few seconds to open.

  • 6 Add the puree and crushed tomatoes, mix, pour the water and bring to a boil.

  • 7 Carefully place the patties, transfer the pot to a low heat, cover and cook for about 30 minutes.

During cooking, pour a little sauce over the patties with a spoon.

If necessary, add more water (the height of the sauce should reach up to half the height of the patties).

  • 8 Serve with white rice.
