Turkey is building a wall on its border with Iran to prevent a new influx of refugees, mainly from Afghanistan, as the Taliban retake the country.

For now, a 5 km section is under construction and Turkey aims to build a 295 km long wall on its Iranian border, reinforced with barbed wire and trenches. The country already hosts 3.7 million Syrians who fled the war and now fears a new influx of refugees from Afghanistan.
