(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 17 - This morning, shortly after 6 pm, pyromaniacs threw some ignited triggers over the wall on Via Pratica di Mare of the presidential estate of Castelporziano, the summer residence of the head of state. Some trees and a small portion of Mediterranean scrub and shrubs immediately caught fire. Some citizens have warned the fire brigade. The teams of forestry and firefighters in force in the presidential seal also arrived on the spot. The damage was fortunately limited to around twenty square meters of burnt land.
President Mattarella, it is learned, reiterated his conviction for acts of crime affecting the civil community and thanked the citizens who reported the fire and the rescue teams of the firefighters: thanks to their timely intervention, very serious consequences were avoided.
Information on the episode is awaited at the Public Prosecutor's Office in Rome.
The investigation activity is entrusted to the carabinieri. The formal opening of the file will take place after the filing of the information. (HANDLE).
