Corona despite vaccination?
According to the latest studies, vaccinated persons can also carry a high viral load if infected with the Delta variant.
Kassel - The delta variant of the corona virus * is now considered to be dominant in Germany.
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), there has been a rapid increase in the proportion of infections with the Delta variant in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, more than 50 percent of the population in Germany have received full corona vaccination protection.
However, more and more fully vaccinated people are getting corona *.
The RKI has already registered more than 10,000 so-called vaccination breakthroughs.
But how contagious are these people?
New corona studies are causing concern, especially with a view to the delta variant.

For vaccinated people, the probability of infecting another person with Corona is low.
However, according to the latest findings, this does not seem to apply to infection with the delta variant.
According to a report by the UK health authority Public Health England (PHE), people who have been vaccinated can also be highly contagious.
As a result, people with vaccination are contagious to a similar extent as those who have not been vaccinated in the first few days of infection.
However, the risk of infection decreases faster in vaccinated people in the following days.
People who have complete corona vaccination protection are therefore contagious for a shorter time than those who have not been vaccinated.
According to analyzes by the National Center of Infectious Diseases in Singapore, the viral load in vaccinated people falls significantly faster than in unvaccinated people.

Basically, however, cases in which people become infected with corona despite being vaccinated are rare.
As the RKI indicates, around 0.02 percent of those vaccinated are currently infected.
It was also stressed that the UK Health Authority's findings were early analysis and that more targeted studies were needed.

As the RKI reports in a current risk assessment, a further increase in the number of infections in the next few weeks must be expected due to the easy transferability of the delta variant and the inadequate corona vaccination rates. According to the RKI, a relaxation of the contact restrictions and the current travel activity would favor a renewed spread of the corona virus. The RKI currently

. But even completely vaccinated people are not fully protected, the RKI still assesses the risk in this group as moderate. However, this assessment could change in the short term due to new findings.
