Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Dominic West as Prince Charles: Netflix has published the first photos of the two for the new "The Crown" season. Happy looks different.

"Our new Prince Charles (Dominic West) and our new Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki)": With these words, the streaming service Netflix has published two new photos for the upcoming season of the successful series "The Crown".

It had been known for a year that West and Debicki would take on the roles of the former royal couple.

So far, however, there have not been any photos.

West as Prince Charles can now be seen in a suit and with a serious expression, he is standing in the open air, his gaze directed into the distance.

Debicki as Diana is lying on a couch, her gaze drifts sadly to the side, a letter lies on her stomach.

West and Debicki take on the roles of Charles and Diana in what is expected to be the last two seasons of the series, which is a huge success, especially in the UK.

In the meantime, "The Crown" inventor and screenwriter Peter Morgan had announced that the series would end after five seasons.

But then he revised his decision so that - as originally planned - there should be six.

In season four, Charles was played by Josh O'Connor and Diana by Emma Corrin.

With season five now follows the switch to West and Debicki.

Imelda Staunton then takes on the role of Queen, with Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip at her side.

The series starts from season five in the early 1990s, when Charles and Diana's marriage was already broken.

Netflix will probably not publish the new episodes until 2022.

The British actor Dominic West is known from the series "The Wire" and "The Affair".

The 51-year-old was most recently in front of the camera for the series "The Pursuit of Love".

The 30-year-old Australian Elizabeth Debicki took on roles in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", "Widows", "The Night Manager" and "Tenet", among others, before her engagement for "The Crown".
