The arrest warrant against the alleged serial robber Thomas Drach has been extended to attempted murder.

That said a spokesman for the Cologne public prosecutor's office.

It is about the attack on an Ikea branch in Frankfurt / Main in autumn 2019.

In an exchange of fire, Drach is said to have seriously injured a money messenger.

The extended arrest warrant of the Cologne district court was announced to Drach in the prison in Cologne, where he is in custody.

Alleged involvement in at least three robberies

The public prosecutor's office has also requested that the arrest warrant for an alleged accomplice imprisoned in Düsseldorf be extended to aiding and abetting attempted murder.

But that has not yet been decided, said the spokesman.

So far, Drach has been accused of three robberies on money transporters in 2018 and 2019: In addition to the one in Frankfurt, there are acts at Cologne airport and at an Ikea branch in Cologne.

In total, Drach and his helpers are said to have stolen around 135,000 euros.

In addition, the public prosecutor's office continues to check whether Drach was involved in a robbery in Limburg (Hesse) in 2018.

Drach was arrested in Amsterdam at the end of February and then transferred to Germany.

In 1996 he and his accomplices kidnapped the Hamburg heir of the tobacco dynasty, Jan Philipp Reemtsma.
