"How could I do a Detroit show and not include the legend Eminem," tweeted Curtis Jackson, better known as hip-hop star 50 Cent.
It had previously been made public that the rap superstar Eminem would take on a role in the TV series "BMF".
"BMF" is set in the late 1980s and tells about a Detroit criminal clan - the Black Mafia Family.
Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and Terry "Southwest T" Flenory became central figures in the cocaine trade in the US;
in the noughties they founded a hip-hop record label - for money laundering.
Eminem also plays a character based on a real role model in the series: Rick Wershe Jr., known as White Boy Rick, was an FBI informant as a drug-selling teenager, but was dropped by the authorities at the age of 17, arrested for drug possession and sentenced to life imprisonment .
In June 2020, he was released on parole at the age of 50.
A documentary about his life under the title "White Boy" is currently in the program on Netflix.
Since his leading role in the biographical feature film "8 Mile", Eminem has only had a few acting appearances - apart from his music videos.
50 Cent, on the other hand, whose rap career was largely supported by Eminem, worked much more in the film and television business after his acting debut "Get Rich or Die Tryin '" in 2005, both as an actor and as a producer, writer and director.
At »BMF« 50 Cent is involved in a leading role as executive producer, alongside the experienced TV crime writer and producer Randy Huggins.
The series is to have its premiere on September 26th on the US channel Starz;
a broadcast on the German subsidiary channel Starzplay is also planned.
Incidentally, the main role of gang boss "Big Meech" is played by his son, Demetrius "Lil Meech" Flenory.
