Among these patients, 2,049 are receiving critical care, according to health authorities on Thursday.

The day before, they were 2054, a level that had not been reached since mid-June.

Some 186 people have joined these worst case services in the past 24 hours.

Between Wednesday and Thursday, 127 patients died from Covid-19 in French hospitals, bringing the total toll to 113,182 deaths since the start of the epidemic.

Concern two weeks before the start of the school year
