(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 19 - The draw for the qualifying rounds for the European Women's Basketball Championships will be held tomorrow in Freising (Germany), which will be played in 2023 in Slovenia and Israel.


    "We await the draw of our qualifiers with curiosity and interest, we have to get out of our minds the last game of EuroBasket Women 2021, but at the same time we want to resume the work we started a year ago and which has given us satisfaction and good results", comments the coach. delleazzurre, Lino Lardo.


    38 teams participate in the qualifiers, divided into eight rounds of four teams and two of three, and the national teams of the host countries will also take part in the field, even if they have already qualified.


    Therefore 14 teams qualify for EuroBasket Women, the first in each group and the four best runners-up. In the event that Israel and Slovenia were among the teams that passed the round, the fifth and sixth best second would also qualify.


    The three qualification windows have already been set: 7-15 November 2021, 20-29 November 2022, 5-13 February 2023.


    On the basis of the pairings established by FIBA ​​for the eight-tier merit bands, the opponents of Italy (which is in second tier) will be drawn in tiers 3 (Montenegro, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia), 6 (Netherlands, Israel, Portugal, Luxembourg, Denmark) and 7 (Switzerland, Ireland, Austria, Estonia).
