(ANSA) - FLORENCE, AUGUST 19 - A hacker attack on the servers of the Regional Health Agency (Ars) of Tuscany has caused the destruction of numerous epidemiological-statistical data but the technicians are working to recover them from back up, where they had been saved. According to sources from the Region, no data was stolen and the attack did not concern sensitive personal health data since the Ars did not fight in its study activities. The attack dates back to about two days ago and is slowing down the work of the Ars operators. A complaint will be made to the postal police. The Tuscany Region then explains in a note that "in the night between 17 and 18 August a ransomware-type virus - those that encrypt and make data unreadable - managed to penetrate the system ofRegional health agency. Some files of some Ars machines have been destroyed. The virus has been identified, blocked and the total recovery of the data that had been destroyed in the meantime is underway "." No external function of the Agency has been interrupted - underlines the Region -.


   No sensitive data was reached or processed. The Ars services, the Agency informs, have never been interrupted: neither the functionality of the site, nor the databases, nor the server's mail ". President Eugenio Giani confirms that" the work of the technicians who intervened in the immediacy and that they are completing the recovery of epidemiological and statistical data processed by the Agency ".
