However, the BBC's British television series was not set in old London in the late 19th century.
Instead, Holmes (played by

) and his friend and colleague have to solve tricky criminal cases in this day and age.
Some Holmes lovers could initially have doubts.

However, the overwhelming reviews already show: This concern that the series does not fit in with the times is at least partially unfounded.
Because despite the changed London, the actors

manage to
portray the role models from literature absolutely convincingly.
Be it the eccentric, sometimes confused-looking nature of the master detective, or the somewhat more sedate and gullible habitus of John Watson.

Sherlock Holmes' archenemy is also doing the honors.
And the only woman for whom Holmes ever showed a hint of weakness is of course taken up in the series.
In addition to these parallels, there are clear overlaps with the original in many episodes.
This can already be seen in the titles of the episodes, which often have strong similarities.
One episode is called "The Dogs of Baskerville", the original published in 1902 is entitled: "The Dog of Baskerville".

Unfortunately, the series is no longer available in the stream on Netflix Germany.
Sherlock, like many other series, was sorted out by Netflix.
But fans still have the chance to stream the exciting cases of Sherlock Holmes.
This is possible via Amazon Prime, for example - but only against separate payment.
Google Play and Apple TV, among others, are also offering “Sherlock” for sale.
