In full moonlight: a good time to watch the stars and enjoy good food and wine in the Jezreel Valley

One of the largest regional councils in Israel will host the White Night events that will take place on August 23-24 in a variety of localities in the valley.

With open spaces, wineries, food stalls, attractions for children, museums and star gazing, this seems like a good way to gain a unique family experience towards the end of the holiday.

One of the characteristics of this summer is the difficulty of flying abroad, even if for a short outing, not far from Israel. Quite a few Israelis planned during the summer to travel to neighboring Greece, Cyprus or Turkey, but one after the other, these countries were added to the list of countries Isolation required. The isolation option, what to do, is daunting, so vacationers are required to recalculate a route, for an equally good option - a vacation in Israel. In

my opinion, one of the most "underrated" areas in Israel is the Jezreel Valley. With about 40 settlements, located in a huge tourist area that offers open spaces, endless forests and fields, wineries, attractions and a variety of cute and nature corners.

Between August 23-24, on Mondays and Tuesdays, 'White Night' events will take place in the Jezreel Valley tourism area.

The various galleries, wineries, coffee carts and attractions scattered throughout the valley will await visitors from sunset to the wee hours of the night, with a variety of full moonlight activities.

Here are some of the equal places that will take part in the White Night events.

The valley train site in Kfar Yehoshua

The mythical valley train in Kfar Yehoshua, which operated in the first half of the 20th century, was a connecting line between Haifa and Damascus and other major cities in the Middle East. In the unique visitor center in Kfar Yehoshua, you can watch a spectacular display that recreates the story of the valley train and its main stations using a miniature traveling train that is an exact replica of the valley train and many other interesting exhibits illustrating the story of the old station. There is also an instructional video translated into eight languages.

As part of the White Night events that will take place in the valley, visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of activities. On the first evening, children and adults alike will be able to enjoy the "Treasure," a unique historic escape space built on the site. On the way to solving a long-standing mystery, visitors will be able to wander among the historic stone houses and fascinating train carriages, on a fascinating journey into the past. By the way, a particularly worthwhile ninja track was also built on the site.

On the second evening, there will be a singing tour with one of the developers of the genre, Ofer Gavish.

The singing tour will include visits to the "Terminal", the station manager's house, an example of a caravan and a railroad, and an instructional video translated into eight languages.

All of these will develop into an evening of public singing where it will be possible, while singing, to hear the stories behind the songs inspired by the valley train, and there are quite a few, such as "Let the sun pass over me" by Yoram Taharlev, who grew up in Kfar Yehoshua, or "When peace comes" written by Haim Dig.

Tulip Winery in Kfar Tikva (Photo: Walla !, Dror Zamir)

Tulip Winery (Photo: Official Website, Tulip Winery)

A wine tasting celebration at Tulip Winery

If there is one thing the Jezreel Valley has been blessed with it is good wineries. One of the main ones is Tulip Winery, established in 2003 by Roi Yitzhaki, and located on a mountainside in Kfar Tikva - a small, pastoral community that serves as a home for the population with special needs, and it is easy to think that this is a kibbutz according to how it is built. The villagers integrate into the winery as workers, which creates an extraordinary connection between the winery and the people.

Besides, there's the wine itself, yes? You can reach this magical place and enjoy a warm welcome that includes a tour and wine tasting against a backdrop of intoxicating scenery. As part of the White Night celebrations, the winery's courtyard will be opened for entertaining and it will be possible to enjoy packages of guided tastings, wine in glasses and bottles to sit on alongside snacks of cheeses and breads and of course stock up on holiday wine at a 15% discount. The tasting package ranges from NIS 60 to NIS 110 per person, and the cheese platter from NIS 39 to NIS 120, depending on the size. While the adults drink, the children can enjoy the animal corners scattered throughout the winery area.

Regardless of the events of the white night, every Thursday the winery hosts a "Thursday evening in Tulip" - as part of which the winery yard becomes a lively wine bar that hosts weekly live or DJ shows, combined with a food track or chef with a varied food menu updated weekly.

We were lucky enough to taste delicacies made by Chef Assaf Jaeger, who served an Asian menu that evening.

We went for some salad dishes, and what was said?

The palate already misses the excellent papaya salad we tasted.

Kibbutz Yifat Museum

A perfect stop for families (and not only) at White Night events is at the Valley Museum at Kibbutz Yifat. The museum tells the story of the pioneers of the second and third aliyah in the Jezreel Valley, with a return in time to the days of the pioneers, the early days of the kibbutz and the cooperative moshav until the establishment of the state.

The museum has a variety of pavilions that recreate and illustrate the drying of the swamps, the paving of the roads, a pioneer tent, a moshav hut, the children's home and the clothing store where you can dress up as pioneers and take pictures against the background of pavilions from the period. There is also a carpentry shop where you can create wood with a hammer and nail, a huge tractor yard with tractors of all sizes, from large to small designed for children from the age of two.

On Monday, from 19:00 until the wee hours of the night, an artist and food market will be held in the museum's courtyard, as part of the White Night events, under the name "Jezreeli Night", where works by 16 artists from the "Creators from the Cluster" group will be displayed. . Admission to the museum will be free.

Alongside the art exhibitions, there will be a "Moonlight Picnic", a night picnic from sunset to night. Visitors can enjoy live music, picnic blankets and intimate seating areas. And what do you eat? We tasted Salamatrak Indian food, originally a podtrack with vegan Indian food. On White Night, they will arrive at the museum courtyard, bringing with them a variety of traditional dishes, such as a dumpling stock, samosa and more. Oh, and there is also amazing chai for dessert.

Prices:

Salads: 25 shekels; Dishes: NIS 30; Dumpling stock: NIS 38; Samosa: NIS 15 per unit; Chai: 10 shekels.

And what about wine?

We talked about Roi Yitzhaki's Tulip Winery.

This evening will host Fusion Winery, owned by Doron Yitzhaki, Roi's older brother, who holds a master's degree in winemaking, which he acquired during his time as a wine lover in Australia (and alcohol in general).

Doron specializes in wine production in the best wine regions in the world, such as Germany, where he produces today, with the intention of producing wine where the time of its grapes reaches its best and making it accessible to Israeli wine lovers.

It is recommended not to miss the gourds of Fusion Winery.

For dessert, we tasted from my heart a perfect handmade by Doron's daughter, who will also have a stand at the event.

See stars in the valley

On Monday, parents and children can enjoy an extraordinary night experience - a guided lantern tour of the valley fields near the historic Nahalal Police Fortress. The field tour is guided by the energetic Tuvia Geffen, who admirably accesses the story of the stars in the sky, their names, secrets and location. And is also a number of chisbats.

The cost of the tour: NIS 20 per person.

Another location that will focus on the stars on the full moon nights that await us on Mondays and Tuesdays, is Kibbutz Gvat, where a traditional night will take place that will begin with a short walk to the area, where parents and children can enjoy campfire, marshmallows, potatoes and sausages (and beers for adults). There will be professional guidance on the stars, including observation through a professional telescope. How professional? Let's say I was able to see Saturn's rings and the large spot on Jupiter. That's professional. And the stables of the kibbutz The

The view from the hotel room at the Golden Crown Nazareth (Photo: Walla !, Dror Zamir)

Seating area at the Golden Crown Hotel in Nazareth (Photo: Walla !, Dror Zamir)

Golden Crown Hotel Nazareth, Jump Mountain

White night and everything, but you do have to sleep sometime, and also a place to spend the next morning. The Golden Crown Hotel in Nazareth proved to be a more appropriate solution. The hotel is located on the top of the mountain overlooking the Jezreel Valley near the Jump Mountain, and regardless, it serves as a good base for hiking and attractions in the Jezreel Valley area which is a short drive away.

Already when we arrived at the hotel we were greeted in the lobby with trays of baklava, sweets and soft drinks. The rooms are spacious and clean and the location of the hotel ensures a breathtaking view, regardless of the location of your room. There are double or family rooms, a large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, wet and dry saunas and treatment rooms. We are still in August, so if you are childless and want to find some quiet, a unique spa complex has recently been set up in the hotel combining a heated indoor pool, overlooking the spectacular view of the Jump Mountain and a sun terrace facing the valley. Spa facilities include a Turkish bath, dry sauna, treatment rooms and an innovative gym. The relaxing atmosphere after a few hours in the spa may make some of us forget that there is even a world out there.

August sale prices: starting at NIS 770 per couple per night on a bed and breakfast basis

Extra child per room: NIS 170.

On the occasion of the White Night events in the Jezreel Valley, a 10% discount will be given to families who are interested in combining entertainment and accommodation in the area, for direct booking from the hotel.
