“I like being different,” Andrea told a newspaper in Calabria, after making the buzz on social media.

He did not do it not activism but to stand out.

A 22-year-old Italian student has decided to have the QR code tattooed on his arm proving that he is well vaccinated against Covid-19.

"It's rather original, I like being different," Andrea Colonnetta, who lives in Reggio Calabria, in southern Italy, told Corriere della Calabria newspaper, after her photos on Instagram and TikTok in made a little local celebrity. Already sporting at least two tattoos on his arms and wrists, Andrea had the proof of his vaccination duplicated on his biceps. "Like that, I always have it with me," wrote the young man with the youthful appearance on his Instagram account.

A video posted to TikTok by his tattoo artist Gabriele Pellerone showed the student getting ready to walk into a McDonald's and raising his arm.

But we don't know if the scan worked.

In a video posted this early Saturday afternoon, the duo have fun going back to McDonald's.

We see Andrea photographing her tattoo with her phone and then presenting the photo to the security guard, who scans it.

Successfully, based on the screen response.

There is therefore no proof that we can scan the skin directly.

Andrea's parents had told him so ... "They encouraged me ... to be less impulsive and to think a little more before acting".

A temporary tattoo might have been a better idea.
