The country music scene has lost one of its stars: musician Tom T. Hall died on Friday at his home in Franklin, Tennessee, at the age of 85.
His son Dean confirmed this to the music magazine "Rolling Stone".
Hall has been dubbed the "storyteller" of country music for his detailed songs like "Harper Valley PTA", "I Love" and "That's How I Got to Memphis".
His number one hits include "(Old Dogs, Children and) Watermelon Wine", "Country Is" and "Faster Horses (The Cowboy and the Poet)."
Hall was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008 and into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2019.
He leaves behind his son Dean.
