But Joe Biden said he could not guarantee the "final outcome" of the Kabul evacuation operation, one of the "most difficult in history" at the end of a twenty-year-long war. in Afghanistan.

France, for its part, has undertaken to repatriate its nationals, and to welcome the Afghans who had helped the French army.

NATO is concerned about the difficulties of access to the airport

NATO on Friday called on the Taliban to allow people wishing to be evacuated to leave Afghanistan and that the member countries of the organization remain in "close collaboration" concerning the evacuation operations.

"We have more planes (available for evacuations) than passengers (ready to board), because it is an increasingly thorny challenge to allow these people to arrive at the airport", underlined the leader of the Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg.

If thousands of people have already been evacuated, the Taliban are now accused of tracking down to arrest Afghans who have worked for NATO, and of restricting access to the airport.
