(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 22 - A child was given birth by an Afghan woman on an American military plane during evacuation operations from Kabul. This was reported by the US operations commander, quoted by the BBC, specifying that the woman gave birth shortly after landing at the US base in Ramstein, in Germany.
The plane was flying from a base in the Middle East to Ramstein's when the woman began to go into labor. The pilot lowered the altitude to increase the pressure on board and this helped to "stabilize and save the mother's life," the US command said. Immediately after landing in Germany, medical personnel boarded and assisted the woman in giving birth. The puerpera was then admitted to a nearby hospital. (HANDLE).
