A man died on Saturday afternoon in an accident with his jet ski in the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

That is what the police said.

The 51-year-old from Baden-Württemberg was on the watercraft near the Heringsdorf pier (Vorpommern-Greifswald district) off the island of Usedom when he suddenly fell from his jet ski for an unknown reason.

Several lifeguards and a rescue helicopter began searching for the man.

The emergency services found him lifeless in the water a few minutes later.

They hid him and immediately initiated resuscitation measures.

The victim nevertheless died on site.

According to the police, there is currently no evidence of third-party negligence or an accident with another person involved.
