The Franco-American artist Josephine Baker (1906-1975), a leading figure of the Resistance and of the anti-racist struggle, will enter the Pantheon in Paris on Sunday 30 November: this was announced by the entourage of President Emmanuel Macron, confirming the news published by the Le Parisien newspaper.
In January 2014, Baker's fifth adopted son, Jean-Claude Bouilon-Baker, said that dedicating a place to his mother in the temple of the people who wrote the country's history "would be an immense recognition for this daughter of France who has campaign for freedom, integration and the role of women in society ".
Jean-Claude Bouilon-Baker had, however, added that he preferred his mother's body to remain in the family vault in Munich.
