(ANSA-AFP) - MOSCOW, AUG 22 - A Russian Soyuz rocket has carried 34 new satellites to space from the British operator OneWeb, which aims to provide broadband Internet services around the world.

The rocket, operated by the European Arianespace, took off yesterday from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, the space agency Roscosmos announced in a statement.

This is the fifth launch of the OneWeb satellites this year.

The company aims to build a constellation of around 650 satellites capable of offering enhanced broadband worldwide and plans to make its service operational within next year.
