This Sunday
the man
of Bolivian nationality known as
"patient zero" died
for introducing the
Delta variant
of the coronavirus to Córdoba and generating an outbreak of infections.
He was admitted to the Rawson Hospital for three weeks.
He was 62 years old
.
It is the country's first fatal case of the mutation originally detected in India, which is feared for its high level of contagion.
The death was due to his advanced health complication, as he suffered
"respiratory failure caused by severe bilateral pneumonia
,
"
according to health sources.
He had entered the country in mid-July from Lima, Peru, and
did not respect mandatory isolation
;
he even participated in social gatherings.
His actions generated a focus of intrafamily infections, where
35
of the 60 people who carry or carried this variant in the Mediterranean province
were infected with coronavirus
.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health of Córdoba reported that in the last 24 hours a
new case of infection with the Delta variant was known
.
The official report indicates that the recently registered contagion is linked to a
close contact
of another person who returned from a trip from abroad and who is doing the proper isolation.
The Emergency Fiscal Unit (UFES) investigates the cause that is
accused by four other people
who, knowing that the deceased man carried the virus, shared encounters.
In all cases, they are accused of violating articles 202 and 205 of the Penal Code, which establishes penalties of between 3 and 15 years in prison for carrying out actions that spread the viral disease.
