Covid-19: in London, anti-tax protesters target British televisions

2021-08-23T19:41:07.243Z

Antivax Britons in particular criticize the mass media for only talking about deaths from Covid, not to mention deaths due to serums.

"They are attacking our children."

Dozens of protesters opposed to anti-Covid restrictions and the vaccination campaign forced entry into a London building housing several British news channels on Monday, accusing them of bias.

As hundreds of anti-vaccine protesters marched in the British capital, some of them passed through the security of ITN's headquarters premises, where ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 news is produced at midday. They gathered at the reception.

According to ITV, they strongly attacked a presenter.

As vaccination has just been extended to 16-17 year olds in the UK, a cry has also been heard: 'They are preying on our children'.

The police, called on the spot, simply indicated that the demonstrators then left the building.

"We are opposed to mass screening with questionable PCRs, and to vaccination of children," Natalie, 40, explained during the protest.

Journalists regularly attacked

"The mass media only talk about the deaths of the Covid," said another protester posing as Dean Corona.

On the other hand, "they did not speak of a single death due to the vaccines".

The places were in the afternoon under strong police protection, according to an AFP photographer.

"Attacks on journalists for their reporting on the coronavirus are a worrying development," said an ITN spokesperson.

"The consequence of this action was to prevent journalists from continuing their news gathering activities, which ITN strongly condemns."

In early August, a few dozen people came to demonstrate in front of former BBC offices in West London, now occupied by other media.

They had been forcefully pushed back by the police.

Vaccination against Covid-19 is not compulsory in the United Kingdom, where the “antivax” movement has remained very limited: around 90% of adults have received at least one dose.

The government has not introduced a health pass as it is, but has warned that it could be put in place in September to enter stadiums or nightclubs.
