For three years, the people of Toulouse have adopted them and regularly come across these self-service electric scooters at the corner of their street.
Currently operated by the company Indigo Weel, which entered this market in 2018 in the Pink City, in Balma and Tournefeuille, the offer will evolve in the coming months with the opening up to competition.
The town hall of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) has launched a call for expressions of interest to attract other operators of this soft mode of travel.
"It is a virtuous and environmentally friendly mode of transport, unlike the thermal scooter which pollutes and creates noise pollution," underlines Philippe Perrin, municipal councilor in Toulouse in charge of new mobility. The people of Toulouse appreciate the 600 scooters from Indigo Weel and the new mobility orientation law (Lom) encourages people to open up to competition. This will allow prices to be lowered and the rules of this market to be clarified. We do not want to flood Toulouse with electric two-wheelers but to fix two operators for a fleet of 400 vehicles ”. Unlike the Paris City Hall, which charges for parking motorized two-wheelers in public spaces, the Pink City wants to encourage the use of this transport,by installing charging stations and increasing the parking spaces dedicated to them.

To be part of the new operators, self-service rental companies will have to pay a public space occupancy fee of 50 euros per scooter and per year.
And if today Indigo Weel electric scooters can be parked everywhere, except in certain prohibited areas such as the forecourt of the station, the new offer will include well-defined parking areas.
"We will be attentive to what the candidates propose because the idea of such a service is to be autonomous in the city center and then go to the outskirts, where there is less public transport", insists Philippe Perrin.
Users will be able to use this new service from the start of the school year.
