Sony has quietly launched a revised model of the PS5 on the market.
There are not big differences, but it has two advantages.
A while ago there was initial information about a new PS5 model.
You could read about it for the first time on Sony’s Japanese website.
Australia is now apparently the first country in which retailers have the revised PlayStation 5 * on offer.
Interestingly, not only, as initially assumed, the digital edition of the PS5 has received an update, but also the standard edition.
Sony has been quietly introducing the revamped consoles.
There was no announcement, but some providers have confirmed to the Australian games portal
Press Start
that the new models are now on the market.
But what exactly are the differences?
PS5: Revised model is a little more user-friendly
In terms of performance, the revised PS5 offers no differences.
There are just two ways the console differs:
One change concerns the
screw
that secures the console to the stand: it has been repurposed so that it
can be
tightened with your fingers
.
A screwdriver or other tools are no longer necessary.
The second change is that the
weight of the PS5 is a little less
.
The revised version should be around 300 grams lighter.
As a result, the standard edition of the PS5 would weigh around 4.2 kilograms and the digital edition around 3.6 kilograms.

PS5: This shows the new version
Whether it is the revised PS5 cannot be seen from the packaging.
But buyers can
identify
it by the
model number
.
The conventional model has a number similar to “CFI-1xxx”, while the revised version has “CFI-11xx”.
Although it is only a small adjustment, the use of the new screw is much more user-friendly.
It is therefore to be expected that Sony will increasingly produce the revised PS5 consoles in the future.
It is currently unclear when these will be offered in Germany.
At the moment, the PS5 is still difficult to get in this country, so the model of the console does not currently play a role for most interested parties.
