The number of cases of the Delta variant with no nexus with travelers continues to grow.
In the last hours,
two new cases
were confirmed
in the City
, after the first case was known in the province of Buenos Aires.
The Buenos Aires Minister of Health, Nicolás Kreplak, spoke directly of
"community circulation
.
"
"We detected a case that is of a person
without a travel connection
, this is what is called community transmission. This person lives in Lanús, but works and was infected in the City of Buenos Aires, where he carries out his work tasks," reported the Minister this Tuesday in La Plata.
"Community transmission is starting to happen," Kreplak said
of the Delta variant.
In the City of Buenos Aries they prefer to be more cautious and not yet speak of community circulation, but of cases "under investigation."
They warn, however: "We are
one step away
from talking about community circulation."
Health Minister Carla Vizzotti, who returned from her trip to Russia on Tuesday, had said on Monday:
"We are close"
, referring to the possibility that the Delta began to circulate as a community.
It will be necessary to see the time that passes until it becomes predominant.
As
Clarín
learned
, the new case of Delta variant confirmed in Lanús works at the National Library on the night shift, from 22 to 6, and was infected by a
co-worker
who tested positive but his case was not sequenced .
It is discounted that it has
the same variant
.
In total there would be
ten
people who share schedules and tasks.
At the National Library they were surprised to learn that the facilities had been infected with the Delta variant.
Spokesmen explained that they were not aware and that the news took them just at the time they
are planning the reopening of the building
.
Kreplak, for his part, explained at a press conference: "In his work environment - in reference to the confirmed case - there have been
others infected
, and by
screening
search
this person was found who has the Delta variant."
Nicolás Kreplak stated that "community transmission is beginning to occur."
Video capture.
"There are two other cases detected residents of the City of Buenos Aires that are of community transmission, who have relatives in the metropolitan area and who have had close contact them. We are trying to
find if any of these relatives have
also Delta variant.
For the At the moment we have not registered it, "said the minister.
The two new cases of the City have no link with the workers of the National Library, but with
the first two cases
that had been detected in Monserrat at the end of July.
There was intensive search work for close contacts and more was discovered.
In total there are seven porteños infected with the Delta without connection with travelers.
With his words, Kreplak seemed to fire an elevation shot at the City: "We have managed, for the moment, not to
have cases that do not escape us
. We do an active search in the population, in a sample and proportional way, and we did not find Delta".
The Province had criticized the City for not isolating people arriving from abroad in hotels this time.

Kreplak added: "We have had
capsule cases
, but for the first time we detected a case that is not the result of contact with a traveler. In other jurisdictions less control measures are taken. We will continue to investigate and improve care."
Strictly speaking, the confirmation of the Delta case that the minister speaks of was not made by the province of Buenos Aires, but by the City, based on a study in the laboratory of
the Ricardo Gutiérrez Children's Hospital
.
Then the final confirmation is made at the Malbrán Institute, where samples from all over the country arrive.
The case was communicated by the Province because the worker lives in Lanús, as well as the person who is supposed to have infected it in the same workplace.
The Secretary of Health of the municipality of Lanús, Gustavo Sieli, said that the patient infected with the Delta variant of coronavirus
"had no contact with any neighbor"
in the jurisdiction.
"By doing the
epidemiological investigation, it was
born that these people did not have any kind of contact with Lanús neighbors. None of the people in the family nucleus has had contact with a neighbor, due to the rapid action," he said.
The official added that "the four members of the family are evolving correctly," and explained that it is "a 39-year-old neighbor of Lanús Oeste, who
has
already
had a dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine
for a month."
