During protests by climate activists in London, 52 people were arrested on Monday.

After a call by the organization Extinction Rebellion, protesters blocked streets and intersections in the city center, for example near Trafalgar Square.

Some chained themselves to cars.

The police spoke in a report of 52 arrests "for a large number of criminal offenses", but did not specify them.

The most recent action by Extinction Rebellion was under the motto "Impossible Rebellion" ("Impossible Rebellion").

The participants set up a huge pink table at an intersection with the label “Come to the table”.

“What are you waiting for?” Tweeted the British branch of the organization.

"Should your surroundings be under water, or should your street be blocked with rubble and cars?" The climate emergency had occurred and the "rebellion for life" had begun.

The protests are said to last for two weeks, according to the will of climate activists.

Protests in Oslo too

Activists from Extinction Rebellion also protested in Norway's capital Oslo on Monday.

They blocked access to the Norwegian Ministry of Oil and Energy for more than five hours.

The police cleared the building and said they had arrested 19 people, most of whom were said to have been in the ministry.

Climate change has become a focus of debate in the run-up to the elections in Norway on September 13th.

Extinction Rebellion was founded in the UK in 2018.

The group uses opportunities for civil disobedience to denounce inaction in the fight against the climate crisis.

The group succeeded several times in bringing parts of the British capital and other cities to a standstill with protest actions.

Some of the actions were also directed against private companies, such as newspaper offices and the headquarters of energy companies.
