The Government of Córdoba
reported a new case of the Delta variant
of coronavirus, which raised to 61 infections with that strain with the highest transmissibility in the province.
According to official information, the new case corresponds to
a person who returned from the United States
.
So far, two people have died as a result of this variant: one was "case zero", a traveler who arrived from Peru and failed to comply with the isolation, and the other a 38-year-old woman from the same epidemiological link.
In none of the cases were they not vaccinated.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the province has accumulated
502,101 positive cases of coronavirus
and 6,526 deaths from that cause.
Nationwide there are 202 cases of the Delta variant.

The report details that, of all the cases, 97% of the people recovered from the condition.
On the other hand,
the occupancy level of critical intensive care beds stands at 22.3%
, with 784 hospitalized, of which 189 are on mechanical ventilation, which represents 24.1%.
With regard to the vaccination campaign, to date 2,317,692 of the first dose and 1,115,412 corresponding to the second, which completes the immunization schedule, have been applied.

Beyond the sustained decrease in infections in recent weeks, Argentina registered at least 202 cases of the Delta variant.
"At the moment we have 202 isolated cases, 180 are related to travel or contact with travelers, another group is linked to an agglomeration of infections in Córdoba and the epidemiological nexus of about 10 cases remains to be identified," declared Health Minister Carla Vizzotti.
According to the official, one of these cases could become
the first of community transmission of the Delta variant
in the country.
At the end of July, in addition to the infections in Córdoba, two cases of the Delta variant were reported in the City of Buenos Aires with no link with travelers.
