Landing on the highway in the middle of traffic: The highway north of San Diego had to be closed

A small plane has wreaked havoc in the US state of San Diego.
Apparently due to technical problems, the pilot of a Piper PA-32 landed on Tuesday on Highway Interstate 5 north of the Californian metropolis.
During the emergency landing, he hit several cars, injured some occupants and then crashed into the partition between the lanes, where he came to a stop.
Two slightly injured were taken to hospital.
According to the motorway police, the pilot and his fellow passenger were unharmed.
A driver documented the landing of the Piper.
The plane had taken off from Montgomery-Gibbs Airport around noon.
The pilot is said to have originally planned to land in a field, but then avoided the highway.
Dane and Sarah Tribett from Austin, Texas, were about to celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary in San Diego when their car was rammed by the Piper.

The people in the car behind them reported that the plane literally landed on their car roof.
The inside of the car was full of fuel and broken glass.
The ABC10 transmitter showed live recordings from the scene of the accident.
Part of the wing of the small aircraft broke off on landing.
The highway had to be closed for more than four hours, the Piper was removed.
The FAA said the case would be investigated.
