While making jam, an 82-year-old woman caused an explosion in Hoyerswerda, Saxony.
As the police department in Görlitz announced, the elderly woman had used a propane gas stove in an adjoining building for cooking on late Friday afternoon.
For an as yet unknown cause, gas then escaped in an uncontrolled manner after the woman left the room.
The roof structure of the outbuilding was badly damaged by the subsequent explosion.
But there was no fire - and fortunately the 82-year-old was also uninjured.
However, as part of the operational measures, the fire brigade had to fully block federal highway 97 for a short time.
