September arrives and with it the pumpkin, the endives or the leek, and we can still enjoy the aubergines, the zucchini, the cucumbers or the tomatoes.
With such a fruit and vegetable repertoire at our disposal, what better way than to use all these ingredients in recipes like the ones we propose in our menu this week.
And remember: if you want to find out before anyone else about everything that is going on, you can subscribe to our newsletter and you will receive El Comidista's weekly menu in your email every Friday.
Here you have all the information.
Monday August 30
SALAD WITH APRICOT VINAGRET
We take advantage of the apricot season to prepare a vinaigrette inspired by the Mexican Chamoy sauce, which we will use in a fresh salad ideal to relieve the heat.
THAI MEATBALLS WITH COCONUT SAUCE
Some citrusy, sweet and incredibly fluffy meatballs that are also suitable for coeliacs, since instead of bread they use toasted rice in the pan to give consistency to the dough.
AMERICAN APPLE CAKE
What is it about the mixture of apples, spices, sugar and butter that makes us so happy?
This recipe is to repeat, and repeat, and repeat.
Tuesday, August 31
SUMMER CANNELLONES
These
sui generis
cannelloni
are nothing more than a fun and different way to present a salad.
The dressing does not contain oil (nor does it need it).
SPAGHETTI WITH SWORDFISH, EGGPLANT AND TOMATITOS
This typical Sicilian dish has all the virtues of the island's gastronomy: simplicity, lightness, harmony and maximum use of the original flavors of the food.
SEASONAL FRUIT: GRAPES
Take advantage of the fact that the grapes are already in full season and eat them at all hours even if the seeds make you lazy.
Wednesday September 1
GAZPACHO TO THE ANTIGUA
The original gazpachos were prepared without a mixer, without blanching and with what was at hand: the base was a clear soup of crushed garlic, candeal bread and cold water to which herbs and cut vegetables were added.
GREEN BEANS WITH POTATOES 2.0
A creamy twist on beans with potatoes and a lifelong garlic fritter.
It is not mandatory to put a fried or poached egg on top, but it is highly recommended.
SESAME AND HONEY ICE CREAM
From five ingredients, but expandable to infinity and beyond, you can prepare this creamy ice cream: it will take you just 15 minutes if you have a good doll game.
Thursday September 2
LEEKS WITH TARTAR SAUCE
The only difficulty of this dish is in making the mayonnaise.
The rest comes down to cutting off the ends of the leeks and steaming them.
Nothing more.
AUBERGINE MILANESE
Many hear "milanesa" and think directly of meat, but the truth is that it can also be prepared with vegetables.
We have made it with aubergine and we have added mozzarella and tomato.
SEASONAL FRUITS: PEARS
They are juicy, they are good, they are in season and they can be eaten alone or in combination.
There is no fault.
Friday September 3
CHICKPEAS SALAD WITH SARDINES AND MARINATED ONION DRESSING
We resorted - yes, again - to the creativity of Ottolenghi to make a version of one of his salads.
You could also use the marinated onion dressing with blue fish or grilled mushrooms.
ROASTED PUMPKIN, TOASTED BUTTER AND ALMOND
Few things offer as much reward for little effort as lighting the oven and putting a pumpkin in it.
Today we dress it with 'noisette' butter, sliced almonds and a touch of pepper.
BAKED FIGS WITH GRAPES AND FRESH CREAM
Baking enhances the sweetness of the figs, while the grapes provide the necessary juice and freshness so that the dessert is not too cloying.
Saturday September 4
SAUSAGES WITH FIGS AND GRAPES
We do not discover the genome of the kitchen if we say that the pig gets along very well with the fruits.
It will be because of its fat, but a bittersweet garnish goes like a screw to the nut.
SEASONAL FRUIT: APPLE
This fruit is rich in pectins and fiber, as well as being delicious, so take advantage of what the new season brings.
Sunday September 5
GRATIN ENDIVES WITH HAM AND BECHAMEL
This typical dish of Belgian gastronomy takes endives to their maximum splendor.
If you don't usually cook or eat this vegetable, this recipe is perfect to start with.
CAKE OF COOKIES, CHEESE SHAKE AND FRUIT
The biscuit cake has it all: good, pretty, cheap, it is made in a flash and on top of it without an oven.
Beyond the mythical version with chocolate, there is a world of possibilities with cheese, cream and seasonal fruit.
The weekend drink
BLEEDING
Relegated to drinking for tourists, sangria doesn't have the best reputation.
Mixer Marc Álvarez teaches us how to turn it into a fresh and delicious liquid.
