 The next edition of the Maria Grazia Cutuli National Journalism Award, scheduled for Saturday 4 September in Mattinata, Foggia, will be dedicated to Afghan women. The winners of the 2020 edition, postponed due to the pandemic, are Andrea Vianello (director of RaiNews24), Giuseppe La Venia (Tg1), Barbara Capponi (Tg1-Rai1) and Simona De Santis (director of the blog The secrets of Matilde).


    Organized by the Einaudi Cultural Center of San Severo, the Prize for 20 years has remembered and honored the Corriere della Sera correspondent Maria Grazia Cutuli, killed in Afghanistan. Shared by the journalist's parents who attended the ceremony every year, the award "for not forgetting and promoting peace" defends freedom of the press and pluralism of information.


    In addition to war correspondents, many prestigious signatures fill the roll of honor. For 2021 a special symbolic Cutuli Prize, a sculpture depicting an olive tree of Peace, was personally delivered to Pope Francis in audience in the Vatican on June 23 last.
