They want you to pay: the real reason for canceling the opening section of the Israel Trail
As we published here last week, the northern section of the Israel Trail, which passes through some of the most beautiful and flowing streams in the country, will be eliminated.
Shai Yagel, a planner and marker of trails, thinks that whoever does not want us there on the grounds of safety and as a claimant for claims, will receive the hikers in a different way.

Change in the route of the Israel Trail (Omri Selner, Society for the Protection of Nature)
A few words about the cancellation of the northern section of the Israel Trail, as published in Walla! Tourism last Thursday. I do not at all get into the issue of the not long walk along a road for a walk of hundreds of kilometers, some of them complex and with a much higher risk profile than walking along a road, which have already had quite a few accidents
. That someone will die of heatstroke in the mountains of Eilat, but if he hits a vehicle this is probably a cause of action. It is clear to anyone who has ever been in the area of section 1 of the path (from Ussishkin to Tel Hai) that there are endless solutions , But in a flat area full of ways to explode, so why is there no solution after all?
The answer is simple:
The local and regional councils do not want the Israel Trail hikers there, and seemingly without their consent nothing can be marked.
This decision largely reflects the reluctance of bodies in Israel on non-paying travelers.
Kibbutz Dan has already explicitly asked to move the path near the kibbutz, and farmers have no interest in allowing passage near their areas, and I say carefully that even in the Nature and Parks Authority no one sheds a tear that the annoying pathists will no longer come at odd hours, or skip the checkout in Tel Dan And Nahal Snir.

Many problems cause shoulder pain and one treatment helps them all
There are bodies that do not want us to pass them in the field.

What to do?
Travelers without marking
I fully understand all these bodies, do not agree with them but understand. What I can not understand is the
Society for the Protection of Nature
- instead of fighting for the right of all of us to travel in areas some of which are in general territory with a right of way beyond the public, not only do they not fight but protect the authorities who exclude hikers in general. The power that the local authority has to prevent marking even where there is no legal reason to do so, and its use of this power without a struggle by whoever is supposed to be the "owner" of the Israel Trail - should concern us all.
What to do? Travelers without marking, in the near future I intend to create with the help of those who want to help, a legal alternative recommended for walking in place of the existing section. We will upload the alternative to the various navigation apps, we will publish in the relevant places and we will continue to travel from Dan to Eilat in a safe and legal way, as we have done for the past 25 years.
For the example, in the photo below, there is an idea I have already seen in one of the hiking groups, which also connects the city of Kiryat Shmona to the trail, also adds a great section along the Dan River, and also provides a solution to the safety problem.
In short, the Israel Trail is a great and free project, and we must not stop hiking and certainly not pay for it when possible.
There are always solutions, the question is whether you want to allow them.

Is the abolition of the 1st section for Israel justified?
No, we're just being taken away from nature
Yes, safety above all
