The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced today 550 scholarships offered by the Russian Federation for the undergraduate and postgraduate levels (Master’s and Ph.D.) in various specializations available at its universities, including medical, for the academic year 2022-2023.

According to the ministry’s announcement, SANA received a copy of it today. Submission of applications to the Directorate of Cultural Relations will start from Tuesday 7-9-2021 until Tuesday 11-2-2021.

The ministry allocated 10% of the scholarships to the children of martyrs, and in the event that none of the martyrs’ children applied, the vacant scholarships are added to the rest of the scholarships.

The ministry stipulated that the student must have obtained a document of the Syrian General Secondary Certificate in its scientific or literary branches, cycle 2021 for the first university stage, and that the general average of his total grades after folding the degree of religious education should not be less than 70 percent, and that the student’s secondary certificate be compatible with the degree of the license according to the rules applied in universities The Syrian government clarified that the final acceptance of the student is linked exclusively to the approval of the concerned authority in the Russian Federation.

As for the scholarships for postgraduate studies, it is required that the applicant is not delegated under the law of scientific missions and is not an employee or has the approval of the entity in which he works, and that he has a university degree or a master’s degree according to the acceptance rates required by the Russian side, and that the degree is a master’s degree (for applicants for doctoral studies ) that the student holds is compatible with the doctorate degree, and that the degree of the license held by the student is one of the acceptable certificates for enrollment in postgraduate studies according to the rules applied in Syrian public universities.

These grants can be applied for, according to the announcement, holders of education certificates issued by the Syrian Virtual University, Syrian private universities, open education, the Higher Institute of Business Administration, the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, and the higher institutes of the Ministry of Culture.

The scholarships include exemption from tuition fees and a monthly salary ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 rubles for the undergraduate level, two thousand rubles for the master’s degree and three thousand rubles for the doctorate, in addition to a full academic year to learn the Russian language in the preparatory colleges for universities, which are not included in the study period, while the student, if accepted, is obligated to travel expenses. Round trip and health insurance policy expenses after arrival in Russia.

These grants are based on the executive program of the cultural agreement signed between Syria and the Russian Federation.

Assistant Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research, Dr. Sahar al-Fahoum, explained to SANA that the Russian side has increased the number of scholarships offered to Syrian students for the next academic year from 500 to 550, with the expansion of the required specializations to include medical also, calling on students wishing to apply for these scholarships to read the advertisement well before applying to know Terms of nomination and acceptance.
