Munich - Despite the more than 60 percent fully vaccinated, the fourth corona wave is rolling in Germany.

The numbers are rising across the country and the incidence is now back at 74.8 (as of August 31).

There has been no nationwide emergency brake since the end of June.

The corona rules are again determined by the federal states alone.

But there shouldn't be another lockdown, the rulers like Markus Söder emphasize again and again.

Supermarkets and discounters such as Aldi, Lidl, Edeka and Co., unlike retailers, were never affected by closings anyway.

Nevertheless, with the increasing numbers, some rules could tighten again, which could also affect the supermarkets.

Changes in September: 3G also in supermarkets?

So far, everyone is still allowed in

In August the federal and state governments agreed on the 3G rule.

Since 23 August, there has been an obligation to provide evidence in indoor areas such as restaurants, hairdressers, hotels, cinemas and the like.

3G stands for vaccinated, recovered and tested.

Those who cannot provide up-to-date evidence are not allowed in.

In most federal states, this applies when the incidence is stable above 35, but others also use the vaccination rate and hospital occupancy for the assessment.

This also includes Bavaria.

However, supermarkets have not yet been affected.

Corona rules in supermarkets: That will change in September

Depending on the federal state, there are different requirements for shopping. A fixed rule in the supermarkets of all federal states remains the mask requirement, as well as the usual distance rules. In Hesse, number restrictions apply to customers from an incidence of 100 or more. With a sales area of less than 800 square meters, only one customer per 10 square meters may be admitted. With a sales area of 800 square meters or more, 20 square meters are required per customer in supermarkets and shops. Such restrictions no longer exist in Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia. An FFP2 mask is only required in Bavaria from the yellow level of the new Corona traffic light. That means if 1200 beds are newly occupied in the hospitals within a week (intensive care beds + normal beds). (md)
