Among the variety of hotels for families in Eilat, a new line arrives in the city in the form of a boutique hotel called Now, which is intended mainly for ages 50-25.

It has private pools in the rooms, weekend parties and a chef's restaurant. And the price? Also for adults only

Hotel now in Eilat (Photo: Ziv Reinstein, Editing: Nir Chen)

"It's very different from Eilat you know, it feels like Mykonos," four girls told me as we dipped in the upper pool of the new Now Hotel, which recently opened in Eilat.

"The hotel's wave with the music is very young and cool," they added.

The same quartet of young women from the center even planned to celebrate the bachelorette party of one of them in Greece, but you know what happened until a week ago abroad.

And so they heard about the new boutique hotel, or as it is branded - Now - Vacation Experience ("Vacation experience" ), Which accepts only adults. How many adults? From the age of 21. "You will not find Red Bull cans with us, because we do not intentionally keep," explains the hotel's general manager Kobi Ben Shabbat, in order to prevent a "neighborhood" of young people who come to Eilat to drink and destroy .

Even bachelor parties are not accepted there, but only of bachelorettes.

And if that's not enough, then the not cheap price per night (which we'll get to later) is sure to filter them out.

A refreshing line in the Eilat hotel landscape

The Now Hotel ("Whoever enters our hotel should deposit the past and the future in a safe and live the moment," Kobi explains the hotel's name), opened about three months ago with a quiet run and officially a month and a half ago, on the ruins of an abandoned building that also served as the Colosseum Club. Since then, all sorts of celebs who have been invited to do the thing they love (and are expected to do) upload their photos to the pool, enjoy the hotel restaurant or one of its 19 beautiful rooms. Bar Sommer, the Ma Kasher trio, Skazi and others have already been hosted at it, and a number of other celebs have already closed the place for the weekend in the coming weeks.

And celebs were not hard to bring to him, as two of his owners are identified with the music industry and nightlife, especially in the South. One of them is Elad Gozlan, the owner of the old Eilat club "Selena", and the other is Assaf Etadegi, who is best known as the former promoter of Omar Adam. The connection between them was made 12 years ago. "Since then we have become good friends," they say, "and we opened the place because we wanted to have fun with people like us, who love music and good food." According to them, the intention was to bring something different to Eilat instead of all those big hotels of huge chains, which contain thousands of families on their descendants every summer or holiday.

In a city where almost nothing has changed in terms of entertainment (families with strollers walk on the promenade, explosions with hail in a variety of colors, Sudanese and Eritreans make braids for girls and the hot wind is always hot), such a boutique hotel, usually seen in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, is a refreshing breeze in the landscape Eilat Hotels.

Even Herods Vitalis, which is right next to it, and boasts the title of "Adult Hotel", lacks the urban, vibrant and party-like character that NOW has, but it does not pretend to be one.

No view, design there

The owners invested NIS 20 million in a hotel located about 200 meters from the beach. Its convenient location is also lacking, as it is "locked" in a series of hotels that hide the view: in front of it (south) is the Dan Hotel, west of the Isrotel Hotel, east of Herods Vitalis and north of the City of Kings - the white elephant that closed in 2016 and raises dust.

But the disadvantage of the landscape is compensated for 19 beautiful rooms of various types, including rooms with balcony, garden rooms, junior suite, rooms with a small private pool and one and only suite called The Only Now, which as its name is the largest (42 sqm) with pool And of course the most expensive.

The design in the rooms matches the design in urban hotels and combines warm colors of earth and desert in the bed, lamps and wall cabinets, and on the other hand cold colors of black and white in the espresso machine in each room, in the bathroom and blue in the private pools. The British cosmetics company Molton Brown believes in the Amanties (the tiny shampoo bottles), and a pair of body scrubbing sponges will be waiting for you in the shower. Each room has a smart TV with a wide screen, viewing services from Partner, Netflix and YouTube. What I was missing was some kind of table beyond two small chests of drawers on the sides of the bed, on which you could throw a bag, a purse, a room key, a telephone and just anything that had a use. What's nice, is a connecting door that exists in some rooms and opens in case a group of guests book several rooms together - a solution that was great for about ten people who spent time at the hotel this past weekend in honor of a birthday and marriage proposal for that lucky girl - but were not too quiet either.

Here is also the place to emphasize that throughout the day (and sometimes also at night) house-techno light music is played throughout the hotel's two pools and rooms on the second floor, but also flows to the first floor which should be a quiet floor, as the hotel website states.

In general, if you are planning a quiet vacation, just you and your partner, with a book and without interruptions - then do not come to NOW on the weekend, where lunch parties are held, which include a pampering brunch at the Mood restaurant next to the pool. Keep in mind that the music in the pool exists from sunrise and even after sunset.

The general manager of the hotel explains that the population they are targeting is mainly for people aged 50-25, so you should know where you are going ahead of time.

Log in to Mood

The pools at the hotel, and there are two of these, are for guests, but the upper pool is for hotel guests only, who receive a kind of bracelet beyond a la Club Med. The lower pool is also designed for outside guests, who can come and dine at the restaurant and on the way hit a dip. Beauty of a concept.

Chef Bar Israel conducts the Mood restaurant. "Elad and I wanted to build a vision that would suit both Eilat and the Tel Aviv audience," he explains of the interesting menu of the dinner. Everything is kosher, and the dishes are a combination of Italian (eggplant focaccia aioli, Bianca pizza with cream cheese, artichoke and asparagus and rocket leaves), French (home-pickled burnt brioche - remold and sardines) and also Mediterranean (Greek cheese in a ballady link, artichoke cream Jerusalemite and fluffy leaf salad), but the flagship dish for Bar is a red tuna tartare, which has indeed been reported as a delicacy.

To all this good food, which was really tasty and varied, joins the breakfast that unlike the familiar Eilat buffet, is served to the table by a waiter and contains small and delicious dishes of salads and dips - eggplant cream in tahini, muesli, vegetable salad, brick with toasted almonds, bread basket and of course eggs On request (including Benedict). Those who wish can also have breakfast in their room at no extra charge - from the benefits of a boutique hotel with only 19 rooms. However, it is a pity that fats that are on the evening menu, are also repeated on the lunch menu (like the pizzas, or the beets). Can be varied with another 3-2 servings.

All of these are joined by a series of excellent cocktails (49 shekels each) invented in the restaurant, including a great mojito broken where Louisa leaves instead of mint and give a great sweet taste, or the house cocktail - Now is Now - which has a taste of sweet summer delight and contains vodka, Watermelon, lychee, lemon juice and cranberry juice and somehow has a refreshing taste of rose water. Just perfect!

Beauty of cocktails and dishes.

Spend time like in Tel Aviv, but in Eilat

Beyond that, the hotel services are performed by one person.

Call him a receptionist or concierge or any degree you want, but now they call him a "joker."

Why?

"Because it's the strongest card," Kobe explains.

The Joker walks around the hotel and takes care of everything you need - from storing belongings, ordering a taxi, changing towels to ordering a massage for the room.

Prices:

A night in a hotel will cost a couple starting at NIS 1,500 at midnight in the simplest room, including breakfast. Shekels on the weekend, but it is occupied until October.

Now is not a hotel that is suitable for everyone, certainly not for all ages or for those looking for a calm and quiet vacation.

However, in a city full of hotels for families, it brings a beauty of opportunity to older and less mature guys who want to hang out and relax in a luxurious style like in Tel Aviv, but do it in Eilat.
